Kristin's News: August 2007

Pictured to the left is the 'Sword of Eile' coat of arms. We will be using that as Swahili Eile's official logo. Excitement is building as we count down the days to his arrival. I have been studying his replays over and over and memorizing his racing style. He was an explosive breaker and had a monsterous rush to the first bend. I cannot wait to see his first litter hit the ground.

Fine Silver's babies are growing like weeds. All are fat and healthy. JR's Prelude is being an excellent mother and comes from a deep producing damline.

Both Motorhead and Bokars Red Flyer were relocated to Palm Beach to run with the B&B Kennel. Unfortunately Motorhead will be laid up for several months due to injury. AJ tells me that Red Flyer will be worked on slowly. Thanks to Bernie and AJ for working with these two!

Dolly Madison (Molotov x Solar Bear) is due a week from Thursday and is now starting to show. We were afraid she had missed. We will have Dr. Barber do an X-ray to see exactly how many babies we have and what size they are in case we need to schedule a c-section for her. Dolly currently has a litter of Dodgem By Design pups in training with Wes Parvin.

Hey Zohar pups schooled on at PB today for the Satin Kennel and looked great. Congrats to Henry Howe on these nice pups! Their dam is Dress To Thrill a littersister of Whistlers Ike, the sire of phenom FTH Jive Talker! Hey Zohar hails from the winningest litter to ever grace the Southland oval! These pups were born to run!

Hondo Dingle* is contesting his last and final stakes race, the E12,000 Droopys Kewell Stake. Join us in cheering on our great champ this Thursday in the semi-final round.

Greys Tarmac will be bred to Maryville Rumble* tomorrow! We look forward to some little Mackies running around. Mackie was a champion in her own right finishing 3rd in the 2006 St. Distance Classic. She was one of "the" top 3/8ths racers at Derby Lane. Congrats to the D'Arcy's on your upcoming litter! They ought to be incredible St. Pete dogs!

Pictured to the left is Fine Silver*. Fine Silver's first litter here was born this weekend. Jr's Prelude whelped 8 healthy pups. Silver already has a litter of 9 in Iowa and 2 litters in Kansas with more on the way! We expect great things from our son of Larkhill Jo and Newbridge Girl! His brother, Disguised, has quite a few litters over in Ireland already.

We are happy to announce that we will have a visitor from England in February! Jade Alleway will be spending a month here with us. Jade is a trainer from the UK. I plan on taking Jade to Florida for a week long tour of Florida tracks and farms....ending up at the Derby Lane Million!

We have all booked our plane tickets to Kansas and are looking forward to seeing everyone out at the Meet. This time Chris and Jaime Stivers will be accompanying me from the farm. This will be their first Meet and they are looking forward to putting names with faces!

Pictured to the left is the blue fawn son of Maryville Rumble x Park Top. "Crunch N Munch" is owned by the D'Arcy Kennel. Handsome little devil he is! Greys Tarmac has also popped into season for the D'Arcy's and will be bred to none other than Maryville Rumble! Speaking of Rumble and the D'Arcy's....our country's most beloved female, Dreamy Blossom, will be gracing the oval at Twin Rivers in Lincoln, RI. We wish her godspeed in her quest for another major stakes title and a spot on the coveted All American Team! GO BLOSSOM!!!!

More outstanding news and congratulations to Henry Howe on aquiring the outstanding brood, Cool Cat (Smooth Rumble x Minnie's Nikita). She will be carrying her Dodgem By Design pups over inutero!!!! I cannot tell you how excited we all are with this upcoming fantastic litter! It should make for a banner 2008 racing season for Henry!

Jr's Prelude is absolutely HUGE with pups. She is due tomorrow. I hope she hold off a day or two as it will be beastly hot tomorrow. Not one but TWO of these pups will RaceForAdoption. The first for Greyhound Crossroads and the second courtesy of Dick Ciampa for Pups Without Partners, Penny Zwarts group. Congrats to both adoption groups I hope they run like the wind for you and make the much needed funds we all know you can use!

Martin Roper and I will be making the trek to Lincoln to pick up Cool Cat, Swahili Eile and *possibly* Hondo Dingle* on September 14th. We are both looking forward to cheering on Dreamy Blossom and taking in Twin Rivers and hopefully catching up with some friends.

Those of you desirous of a breeding to Swahili Eile* I would think we would have all paperwork/DNA in place by October 1st and should be able to begin with AI's almost immediately and will have frozen semen available by October 15th. Please visit his sire page. I have heard so many outstanding things about this dog, he should be a gem in the breeding shed.

I am sending another tank of semen on Maryville Rumble* and Fine Silver* to Dr. Law's next week. Dr. Moses just got a new shipment on both today as well!

We have added a new tab on the website, BOARDING. We temporarily took down the Pedigee tab unti Martin has more time to dedicate to entries. We are looking for a few litters of pups to board. We are full of broods that have not come in season and need a few pups to raise. If you are interested please contact me.

Things have been as depressing around here as anywhere else. The heat has been unreal and the unexpected closing of Tampa was a total shock. We have two pups to move - hopefully to Tri-State in the next week or so. We feel so bad for those that moved their families and counted on a paycheck everyweek.

Swahili Eile should be here in the next week or so and if need be I will drive up to Boston to pick him up.

That is about all the news from here!

Hondo Dingle is being official retired on September 7th and then prepared to be shipped over. We are hoping he will be here in time for the big Fall breeding season.

We don't have much to report from the farm. It was 101 degrees today and we are getting up at dark, cleaning pens, watering, feeding and leaving the dogs to be as quiet as possible until this horrible heat wave passes. Everyone is well....just too hot to sprint or do too much of anything.
JR's Prelude is huge with pups and we are praying that the weather will be a bit cooler next weekend when she is due to whelp. One of her pups will be an RFA pup for Greyhound Crossroads and another is already spoken for by our friend Linda Russi....a SPOTTED one for Linda!

That is about it from here....just trying to stay cool!
